If they don’t do the job, you gotta let ‘em go...

Sept 6, 2012

The U.S. Presidential election is certainly one to watch. It is truly suspenseful and there has been so much drama that I almost want to pop some popcorn for C-SPAN.

As I’ve watched the highlights from each convention, one line out of all the speeches has stuck with me: If they don’t do the job, you’ve got to let them go.

Now, this is not a blog about politics. We all have our opinions. This line struck me because it is so very true about employment.

As HR and payroll professionals, we know how tough it is to find and retain good people. In 20+ years, we have processed payroll for more than 100,000 employees to support Asia client operations across 12 Asia-Pacific countries for 130 enterprise clients.

Given that Tiger-Consulting is charged with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, managing, paying (and yes, sometimes firing) employees on behalf of our customers, we doubly feel a sense of duty to get this sensitive, emotional, painful part right. If it doesn’t work out, we know what to do, and sometimes, if the person is just not doing the job-no matter how nice or well-intentioned-you’ve got to let them go.

Sometimes it really is just that simple. It’s not EASY but tough decisions sometimes have to be made. If not then our clients’ businesses pay a price

When these difficult situations arise, we have our clients covered and with their best interests in mind.

Sincerely,
Mercy Mildener
