Vietnam Personal Income Tax Rates-2023

August 23rd, 2023

Our mission at Tiger-Consulting is to make it easier for companies to quickly and cost-effectively hit the ground running in new markets while staying compliant with local labor laws and employment regulations. We are proud to enable 300+ international businesses to expand their reach, and in turn grow at home. Vietnam is just one of the South Pacific Asian countries we serve.

Individuals in Vietnam are subject to personal income tax (PIT) at progressive rates based on their tax residency status. Residents of Vietnam are taxed on their worldwide income while non-residents are only taxable in Vietnam on their Vietnamese sourced income.

A Vietnam tax resident is defined by one of the following criteria: Someone who resides in Vietnam for 183 days or more within 12 consecutive months, holds a temporary or permanent resident card, and/or leases a property for a term of 183 days or more in Vietnam. If an individual does not meet any criteria listed, they are considered a non-tax resident in Vietnam. Non-tax residents are subject to a PIT at a flat rate of 20% on their Vietnam sourced income. Below is the PIT rate chart for Vietnam.
