Expats love Singapore!

Westerners relocating to Singapore enjoy a very “soft” landing. The city is clean, easily accessible, and English-speaking. Singapore has a large expat population and opportunities for all kinds of travelling, whether your preference is beaches, cold weather and slopes, or adventure travel-The experiences are endless. On surveys, Singapore ranks high of places to live and work.

Singapore is a hi-tech, wealthy city-state in Southeast Asia and also happens to be an ideal location to cover Asia. It has a blend of three main ethnicities (Chinese, Malay, Indian) living and working in tropical harmony along with a large community of foreigners.

The city skyscrapers are nicely balanced with natural flora and fauna, and beautiful botanical gardens. Museums, parks, cultural outlets architectural icons, and even a zoo are world class- and so is the cuisine! Singapore boasts a huge variety of food ranging from eastern to western delicacies. Food stalls and upscale restaurants are everywhere. The local food (aka “hawker food”) is quite popular due to the wide selection and price.

It’s extremely family friendly too! Singapore, has a wide variety of schools and is a very safe place to live. Some are critical of Singapore because of strict laws while many people see the benefits! Children use public transport by themselves all the time, even in the evenings and enjoy staying out and socializing with friends at shopping malls and other places well after dark.

Singapore continues to allure foreign talent, especially in marketing, finance, IT, construction, and manufacturing. The cost of living is on the high end-the good news is that salaries are generally high too! According to expatarrivals.com, “Singapore presents one of the most attractive expat destinations in the world. According to the latest HSBC Expat Explorer survey, a whopping 45 percent of expats in Singapore earn over SGD 250,000 (around 200,000 USD) per annum (the global average is just 21 percent).”
